The loved ones of Mike Carson are saddened announce his recent passing. Remembered for years of journalistic integrity, his supportive nature, and sarcastic wit, Michael Francis Carson, aged 71 years, was born in Portland, Maine in 1951. The middle child of Charles Carson and Fran Carson (Markley), Mike spent his childhood in Portland Maine singing in choirs, playing tennis, and becoming a connoisseur of Meatball and Italian Sandwiches. He attended St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish N.S. and spent time in Lewiston ME before he started making headlines (ok… bylines) as the Bureau Manager of The Guardian and reporter for The Journal Pioneer in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
Mike is lovingly remembered by his 3 children, Riley Jayne, Jennifer, and Danny Carson; their mother and friend of Mike’s for over 50 years, Mary Callaghan; his precious grandchildren Lark and Vik Gallant and their father Chris Gallant; brother Chuck Carson (PA); The Harvey Family (ME); In-laws, nieces and nephews; and dog Brady.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brother Mark Carson. Mike was devoutly supportive of his kids and their interests, and New England and their sports teams. A true number one fan, he believed his children to have been the best in all their endeavors, and donned Patriots and Red Sox logos regardless of how their seasons were going. Riley, Jennifer, and Danny are grateful their father ensured they had great taste in music, a way with words, and the ability to make and enjoy a good pun. Mike was known for making delicious turkey dinners and late-night pizzas, celebrating the 4th of July and American Thanksgiving, and listening to folk music greats.
