The death occurred peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Home, Charlottetown, Friday, February 3, 2023, of Edward Doucette, of South Rustico, aged 89, husband of the late Marita Doucette.
Edward was the loving father of Anna (Ray), Paul, Patty (Stephen) and Marina. Adored grandfather of Kyle (Jessica), Kristen, Nicholas and Jenna and great-grandson, Stirling. He is also survived by his sister, Fran (Mel); and sisters-in-law, Ella Doucette and Pat Doiron.
Besides his wife, Marita, Edward was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Bernice (Gallant) Doucette; his siblings, Cyril, Rita (Gene), Norma (Rannie), Alfred, Alyre (Anna), Marie (Hal), and Louise (Ted); his parents-in-law, Stanislaus and Matilda Doiron; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Josie), Louise (Yvon), Stella (Edward), Delma (Edward), Vince and Edgar.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held at Central Queens Funeral Home, New Glasgow, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in church cemetery at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the St. Augustine’s Cemetery Fund or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

The funeral for Edward Doucette was held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico. The celebrant for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Albin Arsenault, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his family. The first reading, from Ecclesiastes, was addressed by Terra Doucette. The second reading, from I John, was addressed by Sharon MacLean. The prayers of the faithful were led by Lynn Gallant. The altar servers were Linda Gallant and Della Cormier Smith, who also assisted Father Albin as a Eucharistic Minister with Marie Doiron. The Cross Bearer was James Donnelly. The music was provided by the church choir, with Chelsea Gallant as organist and Phyllis Arsenault as song leader. The hymns were: entrance, “On Eagles Wings”; psalm, “The Lord’s My Shepherd”; gospel acclamation, “Celtic Alleluia”; offertory, “Be Not Afraid”; communion, “You Are My Saviour”, sung by Phyllis Arsenault; commendation, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessional, “J’irai la Voir Un Jour””. Honorary pallbearers were everyone present. Pallbearers were Mark MacDougall, Ricky Gauthier, Raymond Arsenault, Kyle Gallant, Stephen Gallant and Nicholas Gallant. Flower bearers were Kyle Gallant, Nicholas Gallant, Kristen Gallant and Jenna Gallant. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
