The death occurred peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 23, 2023, of Magnus Ochsner, beloved husband of the late Hedy Ochsner and son of the late Magnus and Maria Ochsner, of Summerside and formerly of Hope River and Greenvale, in his 98th year.

Magnus immigrated from Switzerland in 1952.

He was the loving father of John (Dora) and Frances Ochsner (Allan Davis, deceased); father-in-law of Dave Dominie; cherished grandfather of Ashlea Mask (Graeme) and Shannon McQuaid (Chad); Isabel Pérez (Héctor) and Nicolle Pereira (Simon-Phillippe Dufour); and great-grandfather to Georgia Mask, Sophia and Monroe McQuaid, Maximilian Pérez and Oliver Sonier.

Magnus is survived by family in Switzerland, Australia, and the United States.

Besides his parents, Magnus Konrad and Maria Teresia, Magnus was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Maggie Pereira; and his siblings, Hans Ochsner and Teresa Büsser.

Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow. The funeral will be held at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Hope River, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a visitation prior to the funeral at the Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment in the Church Cemetery.

If so desired, a memorial donation to the St. Anne’s Cemetery, Hope River would be appreciated, or if possible, plant a fruit tree in memory of Magnus and share its bounty with others.

The funeral for Magnus Oschner was held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The Altar servers were Jacinta Doiron and Paula Doiron. The first reading, from Ecclesiastes 3, was addressed by Lori Beck. The second reading, II Corinthians 9, was addressed by Chad McQuaid. Prayers of the faithful were led by Reverend Santiago. The music was provided by the church choir, with Lara Dias as organist. The hymns were entrance, “Prayer of St. Francis”; responsorial psalm, Psalm of the Good Shepherd with Lara Dias as Cantor; offertory, “Seek Ye First”; communion, “Dona Nobis Pacem”; commendation, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessional, “How Great Thou Art”. The bearers of honour were granddaughters, Ashlea Mask, Nicolle Pereira, Shannon McQuaid and Isabel Perez. Interment took place in the Church Cemetery where Reverend Santiago conducted the committal service.
